The globe in my boot has blown.  I went to Autobarn and the guy pulled the globe out (I couldn't for the life of me!) and all I know is that it's a festoon bulb.  He thinks its 28mm.  The only one he had in stock was an LED one for $20ish...which I didn't want.  I just want the cheapest.  Some I did find were all special order.

I've tried Google-ing globes..some say 28mm, others say 31mm....which is it?

Has anyone had to replace their internal lights?

TIA.

PS.....Not a newbie, I just couldn't remember my username and I must've registered under a different eMail address previously.

My i30 has had all globes changed over to LED - cheaply, via eBay. If he thinks it's 28mm, start there.

If it's the same as the ones over the front seats, I replaced them with LED festoon bulbs. The original rating was 8W, which is a bit of an oddball rating which may be why they're hard to get. This was in a 2015 GD.

Another approach, which is what I have in the boot, is a matrix panel of surface mount LEDs wired through a spring loaded festoon insert that mimics the original globe - tons of light and easy peasy.
