Decided to invest the princely sum of £19.99 on a video camera, to record all my journeys :)

It creates sets of 5 minute .avi files (approx 350mb each) onto the supplied 8Gb microsd card.

It's brilliant. Records sound too, and can take individual pics.

This is not my vid, but gives an idea how good it is :)

I got it from 7DayShop. They've more stock coming in in the next 3 days. I collected mine from the sorting office this morning :)

Looking on eBay they are roughly the same price, but without the 8gb card and mostly from China

I have an X-Driven gps camera recorder as well as a camera that I purchased of Ebay. The camera from Ebay actually produces better video than the x-driven, and is rechargeable.

Link - X-Driven

Ebay - but the seller I purchased from is no longer registered. But this is the same item.

Link - Camera from Ebay

Note: both open in a new window.

Review of Ebay camera. Not by me.

I often take pics on my Navman but this DVR really does capture top quality vids & pics. The beauty is it can continue to record while charging on-the-go (mini-USB into power outlet).

I don't know why I didn't watch the video in your post before, but was so impressed with that eBay camera video I just ordered one.

Seems to be a lot of competition to sell these cameras and there are four types to choose from. I ordered the DVR-007 simply because it also has motion-detection as well as 120o vision.

Just a quick comment on that. Not sure if you purchased from an HK or China seller. But I have purchased quite a few thinks from those locations and they usually take about 15-25 days to arrive, some times longer. Mine seems to use about 1GB of memory for every 15 mins of video. The files are recorded in .avi format. I convert them to either .wmv or mp4 so they end up much smaller files if you need to keep them on your computer. When fully charged it will do about 2.5 hours on the battery. When using in the car, if you flip the screen to the closed position, the screen goes off, but the unit continues to record, so saving batt power if not using the plug in car lead. You need at least a good class 6 sd card, if not faster, or the video seems to stutter on play back  :goodjob:

Cheers Myoi, the eBayer I chose just happens to be the same as in your link. I'm not expecting it before the end of this month.

Just another comment. That item is not the HDMI version, just the standard one.

Can't wait to see your video's Steve.
a few weeks back, i was at the track to watch my friend doing testing on his Nitro Harley top bike. they had a simple little camera like a Cube of ice in size, called a Hero. it fitted into a very robust housing an had a vacume lock mount similar to yours. after i viewed the replay when it was mounted on the rear of the bike i was impressed very wide angle and clear.
i'll see if i can put a link to the bike doing the test pass's you can see the camera mounted on the rear in the you tube vids but i have not got the vid from the hero to show. have you seen the hero? i have been trying to find one.
Cheers i'll look for the link now

I won't be posting many as they would be very boring (to and from work on mostly motorway). But I will post a short clip from the new one when it arrives

Why not do a short vid, couple of minutes, of your trip to work just to show our overseas members the delights of the M6 and 6 lanes!, M55, Blackpool tower and the posh houses at Lytham.

STR metro, thanks for the Video looks like a great track too! long braking area by the look?
our tracks have really short braking area. ok for street bikes but 200 to 250MPH very hard to stop so most use small schutes to help stop.
looking forward to to seeing some video's in here

After seeing that, i can see why you need them in UK. we get people like that here in Sydney too just impatient. eventualy they get caught or killed or worse still they kill others.

Makes you fuzz doesn't it? You see this everyday and nobody does anything about it, I just caught the ghost lines once 6 years ago (my mistake which I admitted to, but did consider that completing the move was safer than running up the rear of the 18 wheel truck I was about to overtake on a crawler lane), but despite or possibly because of my admission of guilt, fined £60 and 3 penalty points!

Yes the marks are there for a purpose, I mistimed my move and therefore had the choice of completing a move into an overtaking lane and catching the lines or braking heavily in the wet and pulling in behind the truck again.  I considered the former as safest, despite realising I would touch the lines.  It was more annoying because in the old days plod would have taken the realisation and admission of the mistake on its merits, clipped your ear and sent you on your way with a warning, this was just a country bobby gaining brownie points from a Subaru driver IMHO.  Never mind lesson learnt, I took the punishment, the point I was making was that we all see much worse crimes on our roads daily which go unpunished.....
