i30manUK , it is the same here, just some manufacturer's make it hard to claim warranty if don't go to dealer to service. but from my experience with any new car, you might go to a dealer to service and they will do that while you wait in most cases. BUT when there is warranty they always want the car for a day or more, no matter how easy the job is, and they will never do warranty on weekends. i think the reason is, they rip us all off with hourly rate they charge, but the factory only pay them minimum hourly rate to do warranty work. the system is wrong as they always only pay there staff at lowest rate.
in most cases you are better off at a good private service center were the owner does the work, just these one man bands are hard to find, i know a good one and he has diesel experience. i think hyundai dealers service teams would only just be learning about diesel's.
i look at it this way, Hyundai cars are reliable and if serviced right and driven normally you will probably never need warranty work, the parts you will need to replace are not covered by warranty, just normal wear, like brake pads disc rotors ( i checked disc rotors at 6,000k noticed rear rotors showing some wear ) tyres, and all the service parts like filters and so on. going to a good private experienced service center that has one man do the work and he is the owner too. you should get a lot better quality service done, and if you stick to what the service scedual says and use genuine parts and approved lubricants & coolants. you will save in the long run , specialy if you do high k's or miles.
