Took a photo of the fuel bowser the other day showing how many litres of diesel I was able to fit in my tank. Has anyone been able to cram in more than that?

how many litres are you supposed to have? and do you have more than the petrol?

I think you can get in about 60l, not tried it myself. If you'd have done that fill over here it would have cost you the equivalent of 113 $AU so diesel is 48% more expensive here   Petrol (gas) too.

But I really like the price of your diesel over there.. Like Lorian, I would have paid much more for that quantity of diesel. Ok, not as much as Lorian, but around 96 AU$.. And don't get me started about the salaries over here

i normally fill up when light first comes on & get about 56-57L in, thumper used to say he was getting 60L in.
as for the price 1.29 per L is good for NSW cheapest i've seen lately is 1.27 for Caltex Vortex diesel ( that servo having a price war ) on averageit would be around 1.34 for diesel 1.32for 91 e10 petrol i filled up my bike on BP98 a few days ago was 1.50 L.
A friend just got back from USA petrol was $3 per us gal over there ( i think 3.7L per us Gal? but a barrel or oil was $88us

Only brim it if you plan to driver straight afterwards, don't go filling it right to the top then parking it somewhere hot.

Yeah, I'm always driving somewhere, so it doesn't stay full for long.

All officially the same size at 53 Litres (but as many have proven you can fit close to 60 ltrs if you get low enough and fill the filler "neck" to the brim...

i was on red light last fill up and filled to the neck and only got 49 litres in. i must have had a lot more left in the tank than i thought.

44L is the most I've put in. I've been on the red light a few times. Might have to stretch it a bit more and se what I can do.

i do seem to vaguely recall a 55L once. but i thought i must have imagined it as i haven't got anywhere near the 50L mark in ages. except the 49L last week.

I'm fairly sure the crdi fuel system doesn't need to be bled if you run it out of fuel Ian.    but don't hold me to it.

I got 54 or 55 litres in a few times but that was with driving about 30 kms after the kms remaining went to --

...and it takes about 2 or 3 minutes of time to get the last 4 or 5 litres in which is awkward if there is a queue behind you

I also use a piece of paper about two metres long to hold the nozzle, use a wet one and some more paper when I'm finished to stop my hands smelling like diesel,  , so the fewer times I go to the servo the happier I am.

With all the hills down here it was the only way I could get over 1000kms out of a tank in mine... (only get 900 out the Hybrid  )

Just a though re the litre.


In Oz do you use the British imperial measure or the USA measure.
The reason I ask is the USA litre is slightly less than the British litre:

British pint = 568.26 ml

USA pint = 473.18 ml

But I understand in South Oz a pint = 425 ml

They must be tight a*ses down in Sunbury, the BP servo I go to supplies gloves....but then again, they charge top dollar per litre...

And I was spewing when my caltex pushed up the cost of Vortex from 125.9 to 128.9......perhaps i should count my blessings?

even worse when you get a dodgy bowser that likes to click off unless you let it run at a drizzle, and you want to fill it to the top,... and there's a queue.

Yeah it takes me forever too. It's a little better with Vortex Diesel, but still...pain in the but. People must think we've got a 200litre tank or something.

When I picked up mine (i30 CW Petrol), filled 60 L !

Normally, I fill about 50 L.
