Was in Grafton yesterday and passed a Hyundai dealer.  Had a bit of a chat with the sales guy and he said that all Hyundai cars in Oz would soon have ESP standard.  In the case of the i30 that would start with cars delivered from late September.  Had a look at the Hyundai website to see if there was any officlal announcement.  No mention of the i30 but was a news item that there is a Tucson facelift with esp standard on all models.  If it is true it looks like I will have some interesting discussions with the dealer about the cost for the Protectz Pack (which for the SLX is just the ESP/TCS option).

(he couldn't believe that the car I ordered in early May was still more than a month away..)

I'm willing to bet any money that Hyundai won't be dropping ESP into the i30 for free - there's simply no reason to do so when the waiting list for the i30 is still a mile long .... it's worth keeping in mind the rest of the Hyundai range is getting pretty long in the tooth, so it makes sense to throw in more and more eqpt for those cars. I personally can't wait till the next "i" model comes out, if the i30 is anything to go by .... I'm sure Hyundai Aust can't wait either! And we haven't even touched on the Genesis yet .....

Agree - no indication that the price won't be increased to cover the cost of the features being standard.  Time will tell how much...
