 no...  i had my car for 2 years now...

like 4 months ago i was to a service... and i told my local dealership about this issue... which have gone on for like... a few months after i got my car.

at that time i didt do anything about it.. cuz i was so excited about having this awesome car... but it have been bugging me for months.. so finally i contacted them asked to do something about it.. which they did... but now.. 4 months later its back.. almost as bad as first time..

to many ppl it look like something dragged something over the paint and into the car... but this is coming from pure sand/dirt passing the car....  (wife joked it about it and said : relax ... turn off the jet engine while u r driving around  )

anyway.. im gonna get the car painted again.. and this time i hope they do something about the problem and not just patching it up.

im just wondering if anyone else have the same problem?

Is it just that one rear door that's affected?

I can see how a dealer might suspect some sort of damage here, perhaps the area needs a good rubbing back to clean bare metal then several coats of etching primer & some coats of top finish paint. If the car was mine I'd also look for some of those "paint-patch" stickers that are micro thin but quite tough. Mitsubishi supplied some for me when I owned a 1.9 diesel Carisma.

Similar to these Ford items :-

I'm wondering... if the damage has not been caused by loading stuff into the rear seats, but sand/dirt as suggested, could there be a door alignment issue here?

My rally cars never suffered paint damage like that with a lot more than an occasional bit of sand/ dirt hitting it.
And I painted it myself - so nothing special.

The problem has been reported a few times before, I recall one extensive thread that was raised by someone in one of the scandanavian countries. If you look hard you'll find the thread but the upshot was that the considered opinion was it was mostly caused by abrasive material being thown up and the door alignments being a little out like Shambles said -  causing the abrasive materials to hit that spot at too high an angle.

The problem seemed to be worse on the CW and the Kia Ceed due to slightly different door profiles. On the Ceed they cover the are just in front of it on the door, and around this area that wears with two small panels of clear 3M plastic protector sheet (from the factory)
My car - same colour, same factory, shows no signs of wear at all, but those spots do tend to attract road dirt more than anywhere else on the car.

well....

my point is that i already had it fixed once.. so its happening pretty fast.. over a period of 4 months...

about that 3m plastic folio.. i suggested that to my locale dealership shopmanager and he said that could be a solution.. but he also said that they changed something on the new i30 models.. a spoiler on the door something.... and he would look into it.. but he suggested that it might help if they mounted one of those thingy´s... he would look into it and return to me when he got something.

I'm just sick of it... cuz the first time they had my car for 3-4days..  which is annoying.

another thing is that its both doors.. so it must be something in the construction/position of the doors...  i know for a fact that it is not me who cant lift my leg when i enter the rear carbine..  :D  and the wife either.. and i hardly use those doors anyway.

i just hope they will fix it soon :)

In my car paint in this place is OK. However my mileage is only 18000 km and I protected around this area with selfadhesive transparent film ORACAL. The film I cut from sheet and before stuck sprinkled water with a little bit of liquid soap (or shampoo) on protected area, then put the film to paint and heated by hair dryer (after warm up the film begins to make very flexible) , at the same time wrung water uder film (by dry cloth) and shaped to curvatures of surface.

Unfortunately, paintwork on I30 is not best quality (soft, thin, rust spots under paintwork on lid). In my opinion this is probably the biggest problem, besides is pretty good.

I had same problem, went to dealer, had a fight. They repaired it, and it has again occured on same place. I will go to dealer again sometime in this month. I think it is fabric mistake, thats why they putted side skirts in new model. On many cars you can see protective film on that place, but it seems that for Hyundai it is easier to do nothing and repair over and over again.

Yeah, I have the same problem on my CW. I posted pics on the forum also.

The the doors should stick more out to cover the problematical part.

Dazz I hope you don't mind, but I've marked it on your pic. I would advise you to buy the stickers for those few inches anyway. I've heard that the "mudflaps" don't do the job 100%. But if you didn't have any problems on your i30, then the CW should also be okay.

"New" i30's shouldn't have problems with that because of the side moldings, which they have.
See the pics below.

You can usually get small squares on ebay cheap (you can here at least).

When you wet the stuff to put it on put a couple of drops of fairy* liquid in the water and it allows you to move it around to line up easier.

I have the same sort of problem as you ( as Dazzler has mention above), however mine are spot of paint falling off after the paint has bubbled for a while , Mine to started this problem when then car was 5- 6 months old, went to the dealer to get it sorted, but was told they are stone chips and was told to go away as it not under warranty because their stone chips... i have contacted Trading Standards with this problem as Hyundai are doing nothing to sort the issue out, ( even though i been to dealer, seen an accessor and contacted customer service) i am getting a independent paint specialist to examine the car to prove to them that the paint we have has a problem. Here are some of the Photos that i have given Hyundai and Trading standards ... still hyundai after over a year now of trying to tell them this is not stonechips, still believe these are and doing nothing to help or sort the problem out , not even contacting me back after i call, all ways " out of the office and call you back" , never a phone call back....i think is is very unperfessional as the are avoid the warranty (10 yr paint warranty, haa... dont even last 6 months)
Very Unhappy teddy bear
