Plain dash - You have the middle model which still has the all black dash, whereas the Premium has the alloy effect. I really liked the dash on my Premium and have to say that it was on a level with it's competition.
All manufacturers will highlight the flagship models in their advertising so lets look at the competition
Ford Focus -

Vauxhall Astra -

VW Golf -

Seat Ibiza -

http://www.skoda.co.uk/gbr/newcars/fabia/interior/features/Pages/default.aspxAt least the parent company have allowed them to use a different colour, but does black really go with beige??
Renault Megane -
http://www.renault.co.uk/cars/model/newmeganehatch/overview.aspxYawn.
I also looked at the Pug 308, Kia Cee'd, Audi A3 etc etc etc, and TBH can find nothing in the interior stakes which surpasses the i30 by any long margin. Factor in the pricing and the i30 is right up there with the best of them.
Having not long looked at the i30 I have to say that it is disappointing that the base models now come with steel wheels and tacky plastic (read bendy) covers, but as Dazz points out, there have to be points of difference. I guess the up point is that you can then source and spec your own alloys should the wish take you (I personally would for the Summer and then fit winter tyres to the steel wheels...)
The Hyundai warranty is indeed covered in the handbooks and I have to say is the most comprehensive mechanical warranty I have ever seen, not many manufacturers out there will give you warranty on an exhaust!!
I now have an ix20 Style which has the top spec interior with piano black gloss inserts, nice but they show every fingerprint available, a 6 year old can make a lot of those in their door insert in the course of a journey.....
I bought the mudflaps for the ix20 as I prefer them, but as Dazz says some don't and therefore it is preference. If you want/need them then ask at point of purchase and they will do it, or simply buy them yourself and stick them on, Hyundai even supply replacment screws with their mudflaps, which I have stored away safely since I could use the existing ones, last time I fitted mudflaps myself I had to find my own fixings....
There are parts of the ix20 dash which I prefer to the i30 and vice-versa, I guess the question should be what do you need a dash to do? Show me vital information about speed and engine status, have a few airbags just in case and some airvents? A radio and some heater controls? OK the i30 has those bits and the rest therefore job done.
All takes me to my final point - If they invented a car which was absolutely perfect in every way, we would all be driving it and that would be it. Game over.
