Hi all, I bought one of these, took a week to come from Hong Kong, but for 99p inclusive it was well worth the wait.  :goodjob:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400190350183

Use it correctly on just gelcoat scratches & they disappear! All mine are gone (sustained before I bought it) & I have successfully treated Mrs Ffoxy's Picanto too.

It's clear, non colour specific & very easy to use.

Dont expect miracles on deep gouges though...

Shambles, it really did work for me!
Consider it useful for the kind of scratches you get to the roof or bonnet when you scare a domestic cat off, or the sort of scratches that just wont shift with a mild abrasive polish, such as those I had from what looked like a tough little shrub that had been pruned back... where the lacquer has gone.

I've already ordered one. If I'd known it was only 10p to post a second set I'd have doubled up.

Got a couple of slight scores I could do with clearing.. not much lost if it doesn't do the job.

Thanks for the heads-up

:'( Yea... almost £15 in the UK for something you can buy from HK for 99p including delivery...  :whistler:

I did wonder if mine would be some dodgy Chinese copy but no... it seems just fine!

Any chance of a before and after photo so we can see how good it is?

Well mine arrived yesterday.

Seems it "needs sunlight" to dry. That gives me a couple of days this year to schedule it in

A hair dryer will not work. The material requires intense ultra-violet light to cure - not just heat.

There is a similar material used for repairing and joining crystal glass (Swarovsky crystal uses it) which will only set under ultra violet light and forms a clear invisible bond..

Got to admire this reviewer...

I bought this item on the basis that it probably wouldn't work - and unfortunately was proved correct.

Right... Use it on a deep scratch & it wont work... the clue is in the Thread title... some of those tests are just stupid TBH....

I have had success on all 4 gel-coat scratches... scratches are all but imperceptible & the car has been washed 3 times since....

1 failure, scratch too deep. I was just trying to help, some people don't need help & others are far too clever to be helped I think...

ffoxy, I appreciate the information. I didn't know there was such a product. I have some "cat" scratches on my bonnet, although I suspect they may be from a bird as they are just in one little area.

:P I'm feeling better now! Thing is I paid 99p... if it doesnt work what have I lost? If it does I've gained at next to no cost. I'd be annoyed by the hype if I paid £15 UK & thought it was some miracle cure TBH but the claim the manufacturer makes is for light gel-coat scratches only (& Simoniz is a respectable manufacturer) Deep colour coat scratches need proper attention.

So if you feel it may help, for 99p UK it doesnt matter if the scratches are too deep really... all 4 cars at our Gaff have now had the treatment with pretty good results

It's just after 10am. It's dry. It's warm. It's sunny. Nobody else around.

Time to wash Fergie then see if this stuff actually works; hopefully it'll go off Ok in this sunlight.

I hadn't forgotten about this thread !

The application I put on last month just seeped and seeped - didn't seem to want to go off - looked a right mess. But eventually I had a day (today) where I could do some firtling.

BEFORE APPLICATION:

AFTER APPLICATION and a bit of Meguiars Scratch-X:

I know it's hard to see, with that sheen, because I also waxed Fergie before I took the pic.

Result? Yep - scratch filled in and Meguiars did the finishing.

Yep - it's come up a treat, along with two other scratches I fixed :)

That boot scratch took about 5 mins to prepare and apply the gelcoat, which included wiping off the seepage a few times. The polish with Meguiars took about 2 mins.

Most impressive Steve  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

I grazed the front bumper of the Hybrid on a concrete pole (in a very tight underground motel carpark) last weekend  More than a gel pen required unfortunately ..  :disapp:

On the positive side it was near to the part of the bumper slightly damaged by a wallaby hit a few months ago .. So I will take before and after shots of my repair (I am confident I can fix it good as new) but wont be as easy as your fix  :-[

Shame ffffffffoxy hasn't been on to show us some of his pics - I'm sure he did a better job on his paintwork(s).

In terms of the gelcoat itself... I'd say definitely do not apply if there's a chance you'll lose sunlight within a couple of hours; mine remained sticky for several days after, hence the constant seeping from the wounds. Makes me wonder how much of the coating actually remained in situ, given how much of it I "mopped" off

Still, I got both cars washed, descratched & waxed on day 2 of my 2 week vacation  :Juggler:

I'm here Steve... just been a bit pre-occupied & busy. I didn't do any before & after shots but I can say that the scratches I fixed have not returned... Nice job on your scratch by the way!  :goodjob:
