Automatic (A) condition

If you have an automatic (A) condition on your licence you must not drive a manual transmission vehicle.

If you want to learn to drive a manual transmission vehicle you must:

be supervised by a person who has held an open licence for at least 1 year in that classdisplay L plates on the vehicle while learning.

If you want to remove the A condition from your licence, you will need to pass a practical driving test in a manual transmission vehicle.

Looks like Qld agrees with you Dave.

+ On some tiptronic automatic transmissions pushing the +/- lever forwards puts the 'box into a higher gear.

- On some tiptronic automatic transmissions pulling the +/- lever down puts the 'box into a higher gear.

+ Some drivers prefer it that way.

- Some drivers don't.

Apparently most sports cars and performance vehicles prefer to have it that pulling back goes up a gear and pushing up goes down a gear.  The reasoning is that you are working with acceleration and deceleration to change up or down as required.  For example, under heavy braking, with things being thrown to the front of the car, it is easier to push the stick to change down a gear.  The V8 Supercars are set up that way.

+ Paddle shift is becoming more popular.

- We won't have the same discussion on that topic.

+ My helicopter doesn't have gears (although it does have planetary gears).

Seems like quite a hot topic :whistler:

- We have planned power outages today at the house from 16:00 - 18:30 and from 22:00 - 00:30
- Because of said power outages, my normal 10 minute commute took about 40 minutes thanks to the traffic lights that were not operational - and of course, not a traffic officer in sight to direct traffic. So it's every man for himself in the gauntlet that they call the intersections of Port Elizabeth
+ I have a date tonight so it shouldn't affect me too much, but I will probably leave home in complete darkness and get home to complete darkness. Oh joy

Well now...we have a saying in Afrikaans that goes 'donkerwerk is konkelwerk' which would loosely translate to 'deeds done in the dark are dark deeds'. I guess it's applicable :whistler:

It's with a lass I met about a month or two ago through a mutual friend, not the same one from the Sevens Rugby in December of last year, although I saw her a bit the other day when she was here in Port Elizabeth with family.

Off topic: In spate of the recent events and our national power producer not...producing power, I had a picture sent to me about a guy marketing smart candles that light themselves when it hears a South African accent say 'oh f***, there go the lights'

Ask Wingerdave about 'neuken in de keuken' - the first phrase a Dutch person would teach you as a visiting foreigner :whistler:

What a bummer. Lent on my roof when getting a load off the roof racks and put a dent in it, in fact two dents   :disapp: Placed my elbows on the roof with my hands facing upwards to lift of the load (silly old fart ). Have been to Wizard dent removals  at Southport ,Gold Coast and he informed me the best way to repair it is to take the roof lining down, estimated cost of between $250 and $300.  He assured me that once repaired it will be as good as new. Just hoping ( being a fussy bugger ) that when the roof lining goes back it will look like it has never been removed. I realise that these new cars compared to the old ones are a lot more fuel efficient and I guess they are made a lot lighter but oh boy is the material a lot thinner than the old Ford's and  Holden's , either that or my elbows have got a lot bonier with old age. :snigger: Probably give it a couple of weeks and book it in. Lesson learnt . As it is I always drop the bonnet down when closing it instead of pushing down with my hands to avoid denting it with my fingers so I don't know what I was thinking when I did that to the roof. :'(

Have you considered using a suction cups like a plug hole plunger to see if that will pull it out.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/b?node=1938239031

Of course you will need to be very careful not to crack the paint.
