Glad i dont have to deal with summer/winter tyre stuff.

+Drove to Sydney yesterday for the Hyundai Eastern Region awards ceremony. Was awarded with National Technician of the year  :happydance:

Nice job!

Lucky for you and all the people in warmer countries  :D I must say I was a bit peeved when I went to local HY dealer when I had the limp mode issues. It was in the beginning of winter so they said they don't have time to fix the car because everyone have booked service times for winter tyre change. People are using more and more change services instead of doing it by themselves. Good for the companies but it gets difficult for those who would need to get their cars fixed. I would guess the mechanics would prefer "real work". Tyre changing seems to be quite dirty job. At least I'll have to wash my clothes now

Do really need two sets or can you just leave the warning light on? There were a lot of talk about this in Finland. This TPMS crap was an EU thing. I think originally you would get failed in MOT if the light was on, but that would have put us nordic people in uneven situation, because those valves costs a lot of money. We would neet 2 sets of TPMS wheels and for example Spanish person would only need 1 set. Therefore missing those TPMS valves should not give you any problems (except the annoying warning light).

Yeah - I think he did.  I can't remember if he wasn't certain he could justify it, or if it was something to do with availability or something.

But I don't think I had seen anything since.

Got declined on finance due to wife not having a job and being classified as a dependant. I just left that up to see if anyone would comment (it does say in the settings what car do you own or want to own lol)
My Jeep has run out of rego now and i probably wont re-register it due to too much wear and tear. Since being declined i've had alot of time to think about it, not spur of the moment decision. Pretty good chance i will get another Jeep, probably Wrangler maybe 4-door, cause i've never been able to live without a 4wd.
Plus side is wifey is starting work tomorrow so a couple of weeks i can reapply for finance.

+Temps have risen and the weather seems to get better. Time to change the spike tyres to summer ones. First winter with these spikes (continental icecontact 2). Seems like I did not loose a single spike during the winter. Overall very happy with the performance. But I must say the car came a whole lot quieter (is that even a word?) with summer tyres.

Those seem in very good condition, how many km did you do on them?
The Kumho I'Zen KW22 I got on mine when I bought it have lost loads of studs and the rest are flat as doornails after only 6000km. I'll get a picture up here when I change tires this weekend.

There are plenty of tar removers available that make it pretty easy, but that is a bad dose of tar!

It's all over the car. Even on my bonnet and roof.

I'm trying to find the responsible contractors because I refuse to have this fixed at my expense. Bloody r-souls

The good- while building our caravan for our round Oz trip I lost 9 kg over the 10 weeks period.

The bad- while building the caravan I use bathroom scales to weigh it. Seems they got damaged and weighed 10 kg less than what they should have....

The bad- when my ex partner got angry for me spending $11,000 over a 7 year period on my hobby of model airplanes

The good- I reminded her of the $35,000 of cigarettes she smoked over the same period.

The bad- when my ex told me "its me or a VW trike"

The good- I replied- its the trike...can you help me shift...

About 7-8000km. I did not measure the wear difference between front and rear tyres. I'll have to check that during the weekend. Generally I tend to drive fairly carefully. They say that the first kms you should drive very carefully so that the spikes have time to get fully seated in their places. Therefore I try to drive the first 1000km without too much heavy braking and accelerating.
I'll have to measure the wear and tear of the rubber before I praise those tyres too much, but at this point I am very happy with their performance  :D.

This is getting a bit offtopic for this thread, but tyres had approx. 9mm thread when new. Front were 7.5mm and rear 9mm. Basicly 1.5mm were worn from the front. Rotating the tyres for nex winter etc. so they should last 3-5 years easily. They wear out a bit faster when new and the rubber is softer. 3mm is the legal minimum here, but after 5mm they are getting a bit dangerous in slush and snow.

Previous tyres were 7 years old. Had plenty of thread and spikes, left but the rubber started to get too hard and the grip was getting worse...
