Well, I decided to go on another evening ride tonight.....

Again I ended up doing 130 something kilometres. This time though I headed out through Sorell and made my way down the Arthur Highway to Dunalley, scene of the recent devastating fires.
Again I probably pushed my luck as this road is pretty notorious for accidents and wildlife after dark but once again the road gods looked after me and the only "wildlife" I saw was a cat bolting across the road and the usual assorted mangled remains smeared into the bitumen.
It was quite a bit colder riding this time and by the time I got to Dunalley my old knees were getting quite numb with the cold and I was also wishing I'd put my jumper on before I'd headed off.
Luckily for me I'd chucked it into the huge under seat storage of the "Burgman" so I pulled over and put it on.
I then chucked a U turn and made my way back home.
Hooking through the bends on the way back with a car sitting behind me made me realise my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, and I ended up riding like an old woman, especially when I had to dip my lights with oncoming cars...

Thankfully traffic was light so I was able to make full use of the excellent high beam and mostly maintain a reasonable pace.
Riding through Sorell I fely my mobile phone buzzing in my pocket so quickly stopped to answer it. It was my brother who had arrived home after receiving dialysis and was wondering where I was. He was very surprised that I had chosen to go for a ride at that time of the day, and especially down to Dunalley knowing how bad the wildlife can be.....Oh well, I like to live dangerously...

Anyhow, all's good, I arrived home safely and after a couple of coffees my body has thawed and I'm looking forward to my next ride.....
