Great photos, Rusty.  I didn't get up to it this year (we went down south to Dover for a counter lunch instead).

Thanks Jamie.....
I really only went as my brother loves boats so I thought it would do him good to get out and about. We slummed it and got a maxi taxi there and back as he wanted to take his mobility scooter.....

Nice little scooter Rusty .. are they alloy wheels

Your Brother reminds me of an older version of the guy that looks out the window of the car in that old commodore 64 test drive game  :D

I've just had cause to buy a "Heartway" mobility scooter and it is brilliant.
Designed like a car with full suspension, 10 forward gears, 10 reverse (5 speed, high & low ratio), "look-alike" alloy wheels, LED lights, indicators, etc, max range of 35 kms.
They're fun to ride.  :D

No, unfortunately....they are only plastic wheel trims.
The scoot runs solid tyres so the wheels are two piece.

Actually, the scooter is bigger than it looks....It is quite tall and has a fair bit of ground clearance. Something he found handy when he accidently drove off a curb... :whistler:
Does make it a pain when you order a maxi taxi though as some of them don't have much head room.

Geez, you're showing your age, me being just a baby, I have no recollection of it...... :undecided:

Traded in the i30, Dave?  :whistler:

Yeah, my brother's scoot has full suspension too and actually goes like a rocket, much faster than the 10kph speed limit for mobility scooters..... :D
It supposedly has a range of over 40 k's but I wouldn't believe the spiel they spin as I think that would be under perfect conditions.
My brother has ridden his from Glenorchy into Hobart and back and has nearly been caught out with a flat battery a few times so has decided not to risk it again.

Sounds like a beauty.
This one has a four-pole motor and large battery capacity and I learned whilst researching them that some use plastic internal motor parts (which don't last) whereas this one has all metal parts.
Sounds as if yours does too with those stats.
It was funny test-driving them - three scooters tearing off down the road in busy Osborne Park in heavy traffic.
Good fun.

As my bro is no light weight, even without his legs he wanted to get a decent heavy duty sort of a scooter. Downside of course is it's more awkward negotiating shop aisles etc and the odd issue fitting in Maxi Taxis.....

I tell you what though, I was surprised how well it performed when he accidently drove off a curb. He went off it at a slight angle which could have been very interesting but the suspension just soaked it up...

BTW I hope none of those boats are made from Huon Pine.

Why is that? :undecided:

Btw, there were quite a few older boats made with Huon Pine...

:whsaid: Why is that, Phil? Huon Pine is a great material for making boats, barnacles don't grow on it.

It takes hundreds of years to grow, and it's protected now isn't it. The 2nd settlers used it for building and yes it's fantastic, but not an easily renewable resource. I slept in a bedroom full of the stuff in Launceston, last time I was there for work.

Quite right, all the more reason to preserve these old boats that are built out of it...  :goodjob:
