Yes Lakes, my return trip was traffic free around 7:30 PM whereas my trip up was at around 5 PM with work traffic. I'm hoping for a slow but steady improvement in consumption as the car loosens up. I just took a look on the Forum and I don't see any members from outside the UK.

I've always admired their layout, though too many adverts for my liking. The gallery is excellent.

What's your login name there? I can come and spam you :P

Which Ford forum will you be joining? I've seen so many it's difficult to decide which is the worst, as they all seem rubbish  :P

I joined Ford Owners Club, Steve...
And you're right!
Having been spoiled by being a member here the differences in quality of conversation, friendliness and overall willingness to help / advise is quite stark already....

I am a member of the Toyota Owners Club and Whirlpool Forums and in more than 12 months have only managed about 100 posts on each. They are friendly enough but not very active.

I posted a comparison of the base model Camry with my Hybrid one and only got one comment directly related to my post  :Pout:

We’ve really struggled to find anything negative to say about the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, other than the five-speed gearbox meaning it revs hard when cruising on the motorway.

I must admit I was a bit surprised it came with a 5 speeder in this day and age but, what sort of rev's are they talking about, Keith?   :undecided:

I agree mate, very relaxed cruiser, quiet and torquey too.
123 BHP with 148 ft lbs torque.

Not bad for 999cc lol!

Yes mate, the Fiestas smaller external dimensions were one of the positives for me. All my family now have cars so I don't need a bigger one, there's now 2 Fiestas and a Swift on the driveway and all 3 fit comfortably side by side. Internally there's not that much difference, yes it's smaller but with a bigger car "feel", which is matched by the driving experience.

Yes mate, my daughter had the same model I did and we both got a steel spare wheel, a jack and tools too, rather than a goo can, but I'll say again... The diesel is NOTHING LIKE the 1 litre turbo petrol... Worlds apart!

I know what petrol go like & the little petrol motors need a turbo to give them some torque,  the common rail turbo diesel nothing like the old diesel.
& Australian terrain nothing like English Terrain. as they say horses for courses .
so here in some states we have lots of mountains to climb, we also have strictly inforced slow maximum speed limits. so what ever can get you up a hill the quickest . so ship her over & we will have a hill climb comp. but not saying i think the i30 1.6 CRDi is a top performer it's not but it gets up hills ok
cheers , how's your new baby? & thats great its got a spare wheel & tyre. is it the normal size or a space saver?

I miss reverse sensors and wish I had keyless entry and start. Reserved for the Titanium models which don't have the ZS bodykit.... Love the electric defroster in the windscreen!
Gearing is very long legged so progress is immensely quick, the engine is quiet but entertaining when desired. Also miss heated leather seats... Wifey's Fiesta Metal has them and they are very good.
I still haven't refuelled after 2 weeks and 78%!of my journeys being done on a cold engine so economy should be very good on a run, currently 43MPG.
White gets dirty easily! My i30 never looked this dirty... Ever!

Hey thanks Keith, great. well i like low gearing as it gets better traction off the line & excellerates harder, just have to shift quick.
as i can't hear reverse sensor would be useless.   i'm wondering why people are so wrapped with keyless start? my MC starts with a button . to me as long as they start first time.
thats good economy. does it handle & brake better than the i30?

It feels very nimble Lakes, no body roll in corners and soaks up surface imperfections very well indeed. The ride I'd say is truly a generation on from my FD. It gets through those longer gears like a hot knife through butter, is much quicker to 60 mph and brakes consistently with confidence inspiring force without grabbing. As you have mentioned before it would be useless on dirt tracks, the alloys on the pre facelift model were reputed to be very soft and easy to bend / buckle / damage and the front splitter would probably get grounded.

Unfortunately with Fords, from my experience the proof is in the ownership experience....

Until they can back their products with a 5 year/unlimited warranty, I won't look at them.
