Firstly, I remain a convert to the i30 FD!

BUT... circumstances have placed me in a position to change my car, to a Ford.

I know this will drive hoots of derision from some but wait.....

Have you driven a Fiesta with the 1.0 litre 3 cylinder Eco-boost motor

The soundtrack is rorty, & the performance of the 125 BHP motor is amazing!
I'm ignoring the manufacturers 62MPG claim... But 45 - 50 is easily attainable.
£0 road tax and just £128 a year insurance sweetens the deal further...
Both my Sons in Law are in Sales for a major Ford dealer and they have access to a "2 cars a year" family purchase plan.

Not really purchase tho... It's a PCP.
Now I looked into PCP plans and understand the drawbacks but these are outweighed by the benefits for me right now in life.

My daughter is also taking one. In exchange we hand over our current cars as a deposit and each get a Titanium X 1.0 Eco-boost Fiesta which will cost us just over £100 each per month.

GAP and servicing is included. No MoT's and 3 years warranty, with AA recovery and Homestart.

After 3 years I can buy it outright with a balloon payment (why would I?) or I can just get another new car.

I'll still be around if I'm welcome, and I'll keep you all informed about my Ford experiences!

I forgive you for buying another brand Keith  :snigger: :-[

You'll have to keep us up to date with pix and stories in Members other Motors (being a Ford there should be no shortage of stories... :winker: )

I initially read it as 100 pounds a week! (100 a month IS a great deal)  :victory:

Thanks Asterix, the Ford sure has a big pair of shoes to fill!

I honestly do have a heavy heart losing my i30, it's a great car!

Well, that came out of left field, PK.  :faint:

But, there will be times when we move on with our vehicles and possibly not remain with the same brand as a replacement, I guess that's life. Stick around and give us the run down on your new car. :undecided:

Turns out my i30 didn't realise the same money as a PX as my young uns 2010 Swift did so my monthly outlay is actually £124 and my daughters £111.
She wants metallic paint and mine has quite a few factory fitted extras  :goodjob:

Yes.... Quite Phil! Daughters husband (my son in law) called her and she wanted to take a look.
After a test drive and a real in depth critique by me on quality of fit, finish & materials we had a drive and Jesus we were both sold!

I had a loan fiesta when daughter's i30 was in for repair months ago. It was an auto admittedly, but it was plain woeful. Nice to drive at city speeds, but on the freeway, struggled to keep up to 110 kmh and wouldn't pull the skin of a cus(turd). I certainly couldn't live with one. However, I don't think we get your engine combination over here so will be interested in your reports, do keep 'em coming. If they're good, we'll be secretly envious, but if thy're bad,,, expect some stick.

Looked at these deals and if you can get a really good one, which looks as if you have £3500 paid out after 3 years, less with inflation, as after 3 or 4 years you tend to be thinking of changing so the loss isn't there, so to say.

That about sums it up. The sums worked out and I found the offer irresistible. Over 3 years my young un has lost £4k in depreciation and now, if she keeps it, she has bills to look forward to. I love fiddling with my cars but the Ford won't ever be mine so I won't be able to... However that gives me more time to do others cars!  :goodjob2:

I'm prepared for the brickbats mate lol! Truthfully... I'd have just about gone for a 1.6 "Metal" like my Wife's... No other Fiesta interested me ( well maybe the ST) but this new engine is awesome... Truly awesome. Usual silky manual transmission and flawless handling. Not great visibility through the internal mirror to the rear & the boot isn't huge either. But neither are of consequence to me now. I use my external mirrors far more.  The thought of an Auto fills me with dread!

I tell you, the auto with the diesel combo is a very nice car. Had to pick daughter up from the city last night, the i30 was behind my car so used that, what a pleasant drive it was,,, again.  :D

I think the Ford Ecoboost is a stunning piece of technology, even the Focus gives pretty good figures for a one litre engine, acceleration and frugality.

Be interesting to hear what somebody's real world experience is like. :goodjob:

PS, the free road tax and 60+ mpg of the Volvo V40 is what has awakened me to the Swedish brand, it is based on the Focus floorpan, I wonder how long before our Government have to change the rules as the revenue is dropping?

The goalposts will be shifted for sure Brian... Don't need to be a genius to understand the increasing efficiency will reduce Tax take... It will be the same for electricity and gas...

This is one of the major flaws in the Governments insistence on building an economy around Taxation.

If we all stopped driving, reduced housing heating costs by 50% and gave up booze and fags... Where might our governments income come from?

I don't plan to leave Dave, this is a great Forum and I feel privileged to be a part of it.

I just don't want to feel like I'm Posting with any other purpose than to inform.

On the last major Forum I was on they despised me Posting about the i30!

I can't imagine life without Nustyrutz's Threads!

Boy eveyone is vacating their I30's,what have we had an alien invasion,no but on the plus side with a great deal like that(that would equate roughly to $60 PW here)with all cost put in why wouldn't you drive a new car and get it replaced every three years.

I have a friend who years ago started out with a Brand spanker Sonata, when they first come out,he has replaced them every two years, always gotten great trade prices and for a small changeover got himself into a new car.after having Bruce and Cyril I wished I'd listened to him years ago.

Again Congrats on the new car.

I have not driven a 3 cyl car, but got shocked by a Suzuki 3 cyl ? few years back in my i30 crdi 5 speed twisty rough road & the little suzu was getting along at a good pace me following prob similar to festa? they need 95 premium fuel that's what you all have as lowest oct? I think
but i'm sure on the hills down here where I am the extra torque would show up

This is the magic of that little turbo 3 pot Lakes.

Spades of torque and BHP like you wouldn't believe for a sub 1 litre motor.

You simply can't tell! It totally trounces my normally aspirated 1.6 petrol i30 for torque and power, it would be a massive shame if you guys don't get the engine down there!

I also drove the latest Ford Fiesta, I could not hear it idling, driving felt like a 6 cylinder, and it really zoomed around :D

I had a boss once who was with Daihatsu Aust during that era.
He reckoned the 3 cyl Charade nearly sent them broke.
