Hi i30 Mania ..

What exactly is the problem.. photo's are a bit hard to follow ..

Is it peeling off or are they just paint flaws...

Not a lot of members with red i30s in Aus (a few but not lots) None have mentioned paint issues (but red does tend to fade in our hot sun)

Do you know if they are made at the European factory (or in Korea) ?

Certainly I had very very few paint problems... As Dazz said, it's a bit hard to make out what the problem is from the pics, but it doesn't look very nice.

That's a good question about where it was built too Dazz, all Australian ones are made in Korea (fortunately) and they do seem to be the pick of the crop...  :D

Also, it might be just the photos, but that doesn't look like "our" red either...

Looks like something's peeling off. Has it been treated with lacquer of some kind?

(I took a copy of the pics and reduced them for easier viewing)

Perhaps something has been spilt on it? Very strange. Can you give an idea of size, is there just the one patch?

All in i30's are made in Korea. It's Shine Red from Hyundai AU website.
Like Shambles said fabric made lacquer is peeling off.
I have asked the owners, do they use any paint protection chemicals or polish paste,no one used any.

That is a wierd one, certainly I haven't seen anything like that... It looks to me like maybe there was something in the paint and it's caused that peel. It's interesting, if your i30s are also from Korea, that the paint on several vehicles in your country is peeling but none (in this club anyway, or in my experience) have done it in Australia, where the sun is ferocious.

Have you taken it to a dealer for an opinion? Could it be some sort of industrial fallout perhaps?

Get back to dealers pronto and get it sorted under warranty.

But before you do go, do you have a body shop nearby.
If so, go and ask their opinion and they might be able to tell you what has happened.

That way when the you go back to the dealers you'll have some knowledge as to your right.

Insist on Hy send a techi to look at it before any work is done.

Hey No. It's a new car insist on a brand new car!

I'll see what I can come up with, but photos really don't show the extent of the discolouration.

Hi people again,

I want to share the latest news about this red paint problem.
Hyundai taking the cars back and changing with the new ones. One of our friends car have been changed with a brand new.
They told this is factory fault and in only few cars this problem can be seen.
We love Hyundai :D

They held there arms up and admitted the fault was theirs.

Great to hear stories were the company come clean without the buyer having to spend months etc "proving" the point.

A RESULT

I don't recall how long it is, but it will surely cover clearcoat failure at 2 years.
