It's a funny world when it comes to cars.
My first imports had heated, convex and self cleaning mirrors but all that was disconnected and flat glass fitted when the vehicle was complied, too advanced for the Aus. driver apparently.
Every car I've driven in recent times has convex mirrors with that standard warning printed on the glass, "The vehicle in your mirror is slower than he thinks", or words to that effect.

But they don't put that on any more either.
They seem to have stopped it when they went to both side mirrors being curved. I've only ever seen it on the left mirror.

I went to Ralph Moore Autoglass today and he was able to stick the flat mirrors on top of the existing ones as the curvature was not too extreme.

Can't test the heating function till I go somewhere cold and misty but not too worried since silly me wasn't aware that I had that function.

Won't the heat cause the glue to become loose and mirror fall off?
It is silicone and they said it should be ok

Interesting, I just looked at the specifications for the i30 premium and it does not mention anything about heated mirrors. I'll visit my Hyundai dealer again and ask him if there is any way around this.

Are you 100% sure you actually have heated mirrors as some models did not have them

You indicated you were going to the dealer to confirm.

Did they confirm you do not have heated?

That was before I saw they were listed in the specifications, so didn't bother going to dealer.

Interesting.  Not on my 2009 i30, my wife's 3 year old Corolla or my daughter's 3 year old Accent.

I can't recall there being the warning on the i30's mirrors, but in my Common-door ute, there is a warning on the passenger side mirror only.  That is the only one that is convex, and I believe is the only one that may require the extra rearview angle.  Regardless, you should turn your head to confirm that it is clear.  For those that say they don't turn their heads, I wonder how easy it is to look out the passenger side mirror without turning your head anyway, an extra 10 degrees won't hurt, and may stop you hitting something or somebody.  Like an unregistered cyclist.

On both mirrors on Mr's 2012 GD hatch.

No warnings mentioned on either of my mirrors, I'm used to it now days though as all my cars over the last 10 or more years have been the same.

I didn't like the mirrors either when I first got them, but now I do.
I got used to the adjustment needed regarding distances and find them really good now due to the wider view.
Never have a problem, road rage or otherwise.
So I've moved from stage 1 to stage 2.

Hi, I also dislike the convex mirrors & bought a kit to replace them.

BUT - after removing the 1st one, discovered the convex glass had heater element attached, the replacement flat mirror doesn't have the element.
So decision time: stick with convex & heater or go with flat & no heater?
Unitil I can get a flat with heater I'm sticking with convex.

If you go ahead & can get a heater, can you let me know please & I'll call into your guy.

BTW it cost me $100? for the kit off eBay

Sorry for the delay in replying. I can confirm that I have heated side mirrors (the original ones) and the heat does come through to the stuck on flat ones. They are working fine and I am happy with the result.

They don't seem affected. I've only used the heating twice when I was in Canberra. I'm sure I was told it wouldn't be a problem.
