Here are a few photo's:

Hadlow Road preserved station

Preserved signal Box

Wirral Way track

Parkgate

Parkgate Quay looking towards the mouth of the River Dee towards West Kirby,

what remains of the platform at Thurstaston

and an information board (this is new since my last ride) about the old railway track.

And finally one just for ASA.....

Bought myself a nice Pinnacle hybrid just before Christmas, have been using nearly every day. Bit cold today, still nice though.

Just a curious question..... what makes this bike a hybrid over a normal bike?

Nep , they call these Bikes Hybrid, they have basic bicycle frame but are made to take off road fatter wheels & tyres, so you can ride them on dirt tracks.

No.

As the ground was wet i had a black muddy line up my back after the ride.

Just got back to this, hybrid is about halfway between an full off-road bike and a fairly stout road bike. Mine has no front suspension, hydraulic discs brake( a real eye opener), road saddle, flat wide bars, and reasonably agressive alloy frame, as noted elsewhere there are also wider road tyres(still run 90psi) It is ideal for brisk commuting on the goat tracks that pass for roads around here.

Got out today for my 2nd ride of 2016.
Again a late start as the forecast said it was going to be wet all today but by 11.00am it was nice and sunny so off I go.
As we have had lots and lots of rain recently and after the mud and puddles on the Wirral Way last week I wanted to stay clean and dry so a ride on hard surface was the order of the day.
So decided on the canal track from Ellesmere Port to Chester then a drop down to the River Dee to skirt around Chester Town Centre to the train station.
The water levels were high on the canal and the River Dee and water was lying on Chester Race course. In the photo's of the Dee - the yellow bollards marking the weir, towards the road bridge and up river - you can see the river is high.
I estimate the river is some 15 to 20 feet higher than normal based on the gap under the road bridge and the angle of the walkway to the floating landing stages.

Well I should read up on how to post a pic on this forum, but till then I'm all talk
I am in Sydney & went into the CBD by train to meet an old friend. I know my way around the CBD of Sydney we'll probably every back lane too. We walked from Central Station, through Chinatown , then darling harbour, was realy hot too, but we loved our day out! We finished up walking down king street whalf then took him up to Kent street then up to the Observatory , then attempted to walk across the harbour bridge walk way only to find out that is for pushy riders only and if you try to walk across on walk ( I mean cycle way ) you will be hit with a $500 fine , so only way to cross Sydney Harbour Bridge now is on a pushy!!
You can walk half way over top span but you pay as its a tour as you would expect. If you drive you pay normal I thing $3 toll
If you try to walk over on the path $500 (this was left side don't think there is a right side when facing north Sydney ) but next time will double check. I have ridden pushy across before.
I have some great pic's in iPhone but don't think it's a straight up way to post?

Yes, all the rain we have been having here has caused top soil etc to be washed of fields into the drainage system.

Out on the bike today.  First time since my last trip out

Out with my pal Chas.  We worked together and retired on the same day way back on 30 June 2011, yes some 4 years 8 months ago. Doesn't time fly...... :Jaw:

Today was his first trip out on his bike for just under 12 months as he has had a bad leg.

Gradually he has got fully mobile again so decided to give the bike a try today and did a shortish ride..... 23 miles..... no only kidding 10 miles.....along the sea wall between Moreton and Meols. Nice and flat..

The wreck is a pirate ship which has been made from drift wood and it is situated next to the Hoylake Lifeboat station.

We crossed the railway track twice.  Once over a closed to vehicle level crossing, now only open to pedestrians and cyclists and on the way back via a footbridge.

The far off hills is Wales....

They are in order of the route....
