Maybe some of our UK friends can give us some feedback on how that's been working for them.
During the election campaign, I had my radio modified so that as soon as any election commercials can on , or any politician's name was broadcast, my Cheech & Chong CD would start to play...gee...I've heard a lot of Cheech & Chong these last few weeks.

I still feel for the poor hospital staff with their unresolved pay issues. I know a couple of them, one who's been affected and one who hasn't.The backlash is to be expected and on top of that, the NSW state government is no better (speaking as one who lived there for 14 years).

Did anyone vote for the Sex party? i was checking out the party's and came across that in the senate paper. the Babe standing for that party in my seat, was much better looking than Gillard.
The only reason that the election is so very close is because here in Australia we use the "Preferential Voting System". Whereas is it was based on "ONE VOTE, ONE VALUE".....a clear winner would have been seen.
Ok agreed, the candidate with only 35% of the vote may be elected.....now look at the other side of the coin......let's say one of the candidates receives only 11% of the primary vote, but get 25% of the preferences, that means that with only a 1/4 0f the primary vote they are elected. So a 1/4 of the vote then beats basically 1/3.... you don't control the preferences.....the party does.
