Hi everyone,

Just paid the deposit on my new i30 SX 2.0 man in black. Pick up on Tuesday and I'm very excited.

This is my second Hyundai (about 6 years ago I had a Accent). That car was my first new car ever and in 2 years it never missed a beat. Unlike the Nissan SSS pulsar I had after it which broke every time I looked at it!

Got them to throw in the SR wheels and a couple of little extras to sweeten the deal. I will post some pictures as soon as I pick up.

I'm on the Gold Coast, not quite as nice as NZ but close!

I didn't realise the SR wheels were so much more...maybe they are not SR then? I will take a photo so you can all tell me what they are.

Thanks, yeah when I heard the price I assumed that. But I'm still happy, they look good.

Sorry the photos are so big...one day I'll work out how to resize them. Although the photos turned out ok for iphone pics.

The pix aren't too bad size wise.. The wheels are a bit like the SR ones (The dealer was a bit sneaky if he tried to trick you into thinking they were)

No, the dealer didn't say they were. I just saw them and said I wanted some. I asked him today and he said they weren't.

Still I got the SX at less than the SX price with nice wheels. It was built this year but its been sitting on the lot for about 4 months. It saved me about a grand to get it rather than the new arrivals. It has the gold badging, car mats which you pay more for, but I'm indifferent. But I'll take whatever extras they want to give me. It has 15km on the clock so it hasn't even been test driven that much.

Also any aussies (gold coast) recommend a place to get the windows tinted, paint protection. The dealership want an arm and a leg to do it. My mate got his wife's Tucson done for half the price so I know there are cheaper options.

Now I realise why they never answered to the door when I called 2 months ago.  I was in the wrong country

ps.
When I spied the heading I read it as NZ not OZ.

Need to go to  Spec Savers

I'm not on gold coast but can tell you not to pay any more than $300 for your window tinting and nothing for paint protection (Not worth doing in my opinion.. a few on here think it is but not many...)

Thanks for the reply Dazzler. They talk up all the paint protection, fabric treatments, electronic rust proofing. But I was turned off by the aggressive sales pitch by the woman who they called over to talk to me. Also the tint Hy puts on is not dark enough for me.

Are any of the other things important? What have you done?

Margins are thinner than they used to be in the car game so they push add ons hard..They will make about $200 out of window tinting and more than that out of paint and fabric protection.. I got the darkest legal tint but none of the other stuff..

Thanks, I posted this question in the General thread so maybe some others will give their input. I think that I will go 1 more than legal as I put it on my wife's Mazda 3 and it looks good. Also i know a couple of cops that have the illegal tint and no one bothers them.

Yeah its sad I laugh at my own jokes!
