Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm enjoying driving the car! I live in Sydney, NSW.
I will post some pics of the red rocket soon! It just had it's first service. I do have a couple of questions!!!
Do any of you use e10 fuel? and if so, what are the benefits & what are the problems? Also, what are the benefits of driving in eco mode? Thanks!! :)

I use e10 from time to time in my Hybrid but we haven't been using it in the CW .. Most i30 owners on here are nervous about the possible corrosive qualities of E10 on the motor and piping etc.. Most modern cars are supposed to cope with it ok  but maybe better to play it safe.

Some also say you wont go as far on a tank of E10 but it doesn't seem to be the case in my Hybrid and it does say OK to use it on my Filler cover  :undecided:

There is a recent discussion on here about eco mode but nothing conclusive has been said as to the benefits  :cool:

My understanding of it is that it retards throttle response but I reckon you're probably better off ignoring it and just use the throttle gently yourself....  :)

E10 does not have the same energy value as normal fuel, that is why it's cheaper at the pump, so you shouldn't be able to go as far as normal ulp. If your manual says it's ok to use then you can use it, if you choose. One property of E10 is that oxygen is released during combustion which aids in more complete burning and is a cleaner fuel as a result.  :neutral:

I thought it was cheaper because the government subsidises it?  :whistler:

My understanding is that the govt subsidises the producers but I'm not aware of subsidies at the pump. Of course there is so much excise on fuel, who can tell. It hasn't set the world on fire because it just isn't marketed that way. I use it when possible in my petrol commodore. As a consumer, I wouldn't buy the stuff if it was the same price but didn't go as far.

Locally produced ethanol attracts a fuel excise rebate of 38c per litre (which matches the excise tax exactly), and this will continue until 30 June 2011. So effectively it is tax-free right now. But after this date the excise tax will be applied to ethanol (and biodiesel) on a sliding scale until it reaches half the excise on conventional fuel by 2015.

Wouldn't a fuel excise rebate be classed as a subsidy?  :undecided:

Thanks everyone, so there really are no perks to using e10. I've conducted some tests using Eco mode and have found very little differences to normal! It's really annoying on Eco mode so I have just been driving it normally.  Will add some pics of the car soon :)

@elz89,

Well it is better for the planet as it is a renewable resource, if that makes any difference to you. It's better for future generations.

But elz says it seems to make little difference to the economy  :undecided:

Elz was saying not bothering to use eco setting as it made little if any difference. Thought you were suggesting he should still use it for the benefit of the environment (but from what he says little if any difference)

Suppose it may reduce emissions a bit  :confused:
