This is one ad that really bugged me when it was aired....Blame is laid solely on the motorist for supposedly speeding yet surely it's mostly the young girl's fault for not looking?  :-\

this is something that has bothered me for a long time now. when i was in school it was drilled into us 'look to the right, look to the left, look to the right again' with emphasis that cars rules the road and we must be careful where we walked/rode. i do NOT see this being a critical factor in road safety anymore, rather the emphasis put on the driver to always be alert that a child may at anytime run onto the road e.g running after their ball, with no responsibility to be laid on the child for obeying road dangers. frankly it pisses me off as it seems older children abuse this. i hate it when they cross the road in front of you almost challenging you to run to them over.  i've had to literally stop once here in my own town for a teenage group, one girl in particular dawdled so slowly then looked at me like 'oh right you're in a car?'

he was speeding,so the accident is automatically his fault. if the girl on the bike was a car,it still would be his fault for speeding. remember Russ its an offence to speed,so he is in the wrong and going to be charged with culpable driving and will loose his licence for a very long time,he may even go to jail for a while. in America its called vehicular homicide, your off to jail for a very, very long time.  her fault? if that was somebody you knew on the bike, would it still be their fault?  i think not. :scared: :faint:

Personally I attribute the majority of the blame to the girl.....she failed to give way at a stop sign. Pushbike or not, you're required to stop and give way to all vehicles.
As for the motorist, how would they prove he was speeding, especially if he was only over by 5 k's?

As an aside, failing to give way is a 3 demerit point offence, exceeding the speed limit by less than 10kph, is only 1 demerit point....

I reckon this is a great motorcycle awareness commercial that was put together by the Motorcycle Council of NSW.

i see surferdude and snow cherry were talking about the 'airport roundabout'

well its gone now... they are like 80% of the way finished from what i can see in removing it and putting the new intersection in...

its much better now, although i never had a problem with the roundabout... it worked and it worked well just idiots didnt know how to use it properly/change lanes safely

It wasn't the using of it that worried me.
Just that every time you went through, they'd have changed where the lanes went on exit, not necessarily with a change in signage.
