Wont Start
Hello,

Last year I bought an i30 CW 1.6 CRDi (90 hp). As long as there is no cold weather there is no problem, but as soon as the temperature drops below 5-6 degrees (Celsius), the cold starting is difficult. The glowplugs were replaced last year (3 were bad), but the problem was not solved with the new glowplugs either. Since then the EGR valve, the glow plug power cable bridge and the battery have been replaced. The problem was not resolved. This year it is even harder to start, and white smoke comes out of the exhaust after starting, and there is a strong diesel smell around the car. All signs point to a bad glow.  :headbang:

I read on this forum that there are two types of glowplugs for this type:

DRL
Hi
I had a new battery fitted to my 2018 Hyundai yesterday. Prior to this the 2 day light symbols would show on the dashboard. Today I drove the car and the day lights are working but not showing up on the dashboard except for about a minute of the journey. Is this now correct or should they show up on the dashboard please? I have called the garage who fitted the battery and I am waiting for them to get back to me.

Thanks for your help.

Problems & Issues
Hi there, I just got a used Hyundai i30 2018 PDE about a month ago. I noticed that occasionally, especially when moving off in slow moving traffic (about 13km/h), I will experience this sudden loss of acceleration where the car speed remains at 13km/h and pressing the pedal down more does not change anything. This happens for about 2 to 3 seconds before power recovers. It is as though the ECU "hangs". I have managed to datalog the latest occurrence this morning (ignore the numbers on the vertical axis) thru Car Scanner Pro and you can clearly see that the RPM and Speed does not respond to pedal input until 2 seconds later.

TPMS
Hi, I've just bought a 2016 Diesel i30 and the front nearside pressure warning came on. After pumping it up, eventually it went out.. for a day or 2. Now I have both front tyre warnings, despite them being the correct pressure.
I have tried driving at 50mph for a while, deflating them to 9psi then re-inflating but not luck. The car has sat largely dormant for a good few weeks, should I try a long drive or should I get the sensors replaced? Is it expensive, can a tyre dealer do this? Sorry for so many questions.. Many Thanks

Vibration
I have a clonking noise (when drive over Manhole cover/Well cover?) , small bumps, etc) in the front (have changed brake discs including pads, timing chain, spindle link left & right, anti-roll bars left & right, shock absorbers and bearings left & right, link arm left & right, inner steering link right) and cannot find from where (yet) anyone that have any good suggestion where to start looking after the clonking noise? Maybe somone has a good photo/film of where to look?

Sorry for the bad English

Oil Leak
Hi

Just after any thoughts of worth this is worth fixing or some major issue would be the underlying cause.

All of a sudden lost over a litre of oil in a 2012 HYUNDAI i30 FD 2.0L G4GC Euro 4 DOHC 16v Petrol 4cyl 105kW Wagon FWD 120000 kms, was low speed short trip so wasn't running with extremely low oil.

Topped it up with 1 litre drove 2 km home and lost likely just over a litre. Ran well no noises and or issues heading home. Serviced since new and only owner.

Have had a clicking noise mainly when cold every ?10th start lasts about 30 seconds near timing belt local mechanic couldn't diagnose.

Here is video of leak when car turned on so only leaking when under pressure.

Immobiliser
Hi guys,

Have a "weird one". So my i30 2008 1.6 petrol is acting up. The immobilizer light is always on. Even when the car is locked. It just happened over night (we did have a lot of rain that night).
So here it how it look when the car is locked. I have a car for over 4 years now and this immobilizer light was never on when car is locked.

So I checked if the antenna is the problem maybe. Maybe there was a corrosion on connector, which is located by the steering wheal. I disconnected it and there was no visible corrosion. So I tried to bridge the two pins to see if the immobilizer light will go off. No luck. So I thi...

Radio
Hey folks, I got myself a 2013 diesel i30 CW. It unfortunately had only the "standard" radio, without Bluetooth, just AUX and USB (with iPod). It looks like this: :link: HOW TO: UPGRADE YOUR GD-01/GD-02 TO A GD-03 HEAD UNIT STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE but w/o the Bluetooth.

I'd like to modify and upgrade to GD-03, but I do worry about some things. Notably: will it connect to continental europe cars? Is there any difference in electrical wiring (as far as I know, GD-03 is Aussie exclusive  ). Another worry is about antennas. Does GD-03 require GPS antenna? Do I need to somehow jerry-rig it?

I'd like to also push my luck and somehow add ...

Possessed
My recently purchased (6 months ago) 2014 i30 Elite diesel (6 speed manual) seems to have developed what I hope is a minor issue, but will probably end up costing me a fortune. About 2 days ago I was driving it and it suddenly seemed to me to be a bit sluggish (It's no performance car, but I haven't had cause complain) and it was like that until this morning. I'd just convinced myself that I was imagining it climbing a particular hill on the highway in 6th gear with no problems  and I must have been changing down to 5th gear without noticing, when bugger me, it climbed the hill in 6th with no problem at all. A bit of investigation and it now seems to perform perfectly fine and the sluggishness of the last 2 days seems to be a thing of the p...

Windscreen Washer
Hi, stupid question but please try to answer... I bought a new pair of jets to replace the existing ones because they spray all around... I need to know if you place it from outside in to the water hose or from inside out... I don't remember how I did it a few years ago...
