Currently +4°C, cloudy and dry.

Winter is still on us, although snowbanks have gone down about 6 inches. Spring arrives few weeks later than usual - need to wait bit longer before switching to the summer tires .

Looked at the 10-day forecast - the temperatures are expected to stay mostly above zero. So, I trust/gamble that it is now safe to switch to summer tires...

The set of Hankook Optimo K415 (195/65R15) tires were a sort of positive surprise, at least at the first glance. Tried them few kms on a dry road, the tires are almost silent up to 60 km/h and quite okay when it comes to noise in higher speeds.

Car handling improved with a quantum leap as the winter tires are only good at snowy winter conditions. My appetite for few more kms grew instantly... :D

I was preprared to trade the Hankooks to another brand, but I think I'll leave these on - I have had much worse stock tires in some of my earlier cars. :)

We've had nearly an inch of rain (more than 20mm) today but it is still not that cold about 16c at the moment (10.45pm)

We ended up having 34mm lifted the level of my dam by 8-10 inches..

Like the way you mix your lengths.

MM then inches.

What is the accepted speak in Oz - metric or imperial?

Metric (I think it is my age group) I started off at school talking feet and inches and then things were changed to Metric mid stream...

My rain guage measures in mm but it is easier to visualize inches of increase in water level...

UK tend to use a mixture of both.

I use inches, feet, yards.  whereas the younger generation use mm, cm, metres.

fluid is a mixture

beers - pint in pubs but litres or part of in sales to home use

18C and sunny!  :)

18° & 20° ?

Is that in your i30?

I often look at temps in Europe and thats much higher than the reports from www.yr.no

http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/Scotland/Aberdeen/hour_by_hour.html

http://www.yr.no/place/Sweden/Halland/Halmstad/hour_by_hour.html

Well maybe the Norwegian Metrologisk Institute is wrong and I'm just jealous because I have to wait longer for summer  :'(

Haven't got that high figures here either (varying between -2°C and 10°C), but the sunny side of my house may occasionally reach 15°C. Weather has been quite nice whole weekend, forecast for the coming week intends to keep it that way. I have still some snow left where I have stacked it during the winter, but the piles are melting down rapidly.

Glad to have summer coming, opened my "sunshine terrace" today.  :D Opened a can of beer as well.  :D Tastes better enjoyed outdoors...

The met office in Aberdeen is in the city right on the coast, due to the undulations of our landscape you only have to travel inland by as little as 5 miles to get radically different weather.  In the summer Aberdeen city can be 15C and Banchory where I used to live can be 10 deg higher at the same time, this also causes the higher city temps in Winter and harsher frosts inland where we have had as low as -28C, it's not as simple as taking one reading and saying that the whole area will be that, the coastal breezes change the conditions distinctly from the protection of the Deeside and Donside valleys.

Due to this in the Summer there is a massive exodus of city dwellers inland for "day oot an' an ice" :D

I have an indoor "weather station". Cost me 50p. Currently showing (21:45 UK time) 16°C. I just tapped it and it now shows 4°C. Tapped again and we're back up at 10°C.

I'll keep tapping it until I think it's warm enough to not have to put our heating on

He in Tassie the weather figures for Devonport are taken at the airport which is right on the coast..I am about 4 km back (and about 10km from the airport) We had almost double the rain they reported the other day (34mm versus 19mm)  and sometimes it is up to 5c warmer than what they reckon it got to...

Sometimes we get a bit less rain than what they say but it is nearly always warmer than the official readings..by a couple of degrees..

Picture not taken by me.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8620352.stm

The 3 week long eruption ended yesterday but last night it started again and this time at the top of the volcano, this eruption is estimated to be 10-20 times more powerful than the one earlier.

And this one also melted some ice from the glacier that covers the volcano, so there where some flooding today.

Parts of some roads were demolished to create a path for the flood and to ease the stress on bridges.

But the worst part is all the ash that follows this one, all flights in north Norway were canceled tonight and probably in scandinavia tomorrow. According to the news it possible that all flight traffic in western Europe will be stopped tomorrow.

Here's a prediction of the ash current. Click the pic for bigger.

Imagine when Katla erupts, Katla is the bigger more evil volcano close by, and according to history it always erupts after this one
