Not enough to do anything with, we are getting bright spells between the showers which is melting it a bit. Temp has dropped to -1, just returned from shopping and whilst it is slushy the roads are OK. i40 stable so far :goodjob:

Thursday afternoon I fitted the wintertyres, and Friday when I was on the motorway the first snow came. Just a few cm's and it disappeared as quickly as it came.

We've had about 36 hours of almost non-stop storms in S E Qld.
The first one hit about 10am Saturday while we were in Brisbane visiting our daughter. Seriously dark, massive lightning strikes, constant thunder and lots of rain. Quite a bit of damage done around the CBD and inner suburbs.
Kept rumbling away in the background until the secon front hit late afternoon with even more rain.
It didn't really stop raining and rumbling all night.
Then as we drove home another cell hit.
More again in the afternoon at home until about 7 pm.
Our empty water tank is full, thanks to over 2" of rain here.
Our daughter texted us to say large hail around Chelmer in the early afternoon.
She had been working yesterday (she's an EHO with a Council adjoining Brisbane and got home just in time to get her car under cover. She had been checking on a couple of known repeat offenders at the Cleveland Markets and then making sure all was being properly adhered to at The Day on the Green concert at Sirromet Wines at Mt Cotton. Reckoned she has an inch of mud clinging to the bottom of her work boots after the winery visit.

Roads are very icy, 30 minutes to travel 3 miles after I got the car cleared, the i40 behaved impeccably though, no nasty surprises at all :goodjob:

We had 38mm of rain on Friday night and with a few showers since probably gone close to 2 inches in total. About the same as the whole of November which was very dry for us. I checked our water tanks and they are full again. :happydance:
By my calculations 2 inches of rain gives us about 12,000 litres of water (benefits of a large roof) :goodjob:

It would nice to be so self-sufficient with rain water tanks, solar power etc.

Ours is a soft sided bed and can get very hot if we want. It is also waveless and there is very little movement because the top zips to the sides. My theory is that when you lie down, the water makes an infinitely variable shape to conform to your body. Works for me. :lol:

Hobart had a record 42c.. We only got to 26 in Devonport and people were complaining. Probably more like 28 at our place.

Our weather station said we got to 41 C today, but it was very dry, so wasn't too sticky (it wasn't sticky at all). We ended up going to Randalls Bay for a swim just before dinner. Absolutely lovely place. I'll try and remember to take a camera tomorrow and post some photos.

42C down here today and we are on the coast, 250km south of Sydney. Like the idiot in my avatar (sorry Mr.Bean :lol:) I played golf in it, yes was arf ot mum. But the dry heat - low humidity is not too bad, I hate the high humidity. :'(
I have nice A/C in the house, so shut the windows and relax, nearly time for a cider. :Shocked:

I have a friend off my surfing forum who is living near Eglehawk Neck in Tassie and he's been evacuated.
Another friend on there lives in Hanoi and is married to a Vietnamese lady. On Christmas Day he, his wife and son and in laws were on that plane which crashed in Myanmar. Fortunately they all got out OK but he's got a very sore back.
He says that in the midst of the whole drama he discovered his mother-in-law had no idea how the escape chutes work. He had gone down with his son and turned to help her only to see her throw herself head first down the chute. Despite everything that was happening (and maybe suffering just a bit of hysteria) he almost burst out laughing at the sight.

I was listening to the radio today in relation to the fires in New South Wales alone.
They currently have 135 fires raging across the state, with 30 of them still uncontrolled.
Yesterday was about 40 degrees, today is about 20 degrees, so they are catching up on controlling the fires.
But the weekend is bring temperatures back in the 40's again.
The second largest fire they are fighting is nine and a half thousand hectares in size.
In addition to these, bear in mind we have fires in South Australia and Tasmania and I heard today that 120 houses have been lost in Tassie and there are still people missing, although no bodies have yet been found.

Currently 30C down here, 280 km south of Sydney. Forecast 37C then a cool southerly change coming up late arvo. When we get a couple of real hot days on the south coast, we generally get a clearing southerly from the Antarctic, which cool thing down to a pleasant 25C in summer, that is forecast for tomorrow. :goodjob2:

Warm 28C today on the coast, we have had no rain for two months, the grass is yellow. But maybe some rain coming down on the weekend from Queensland - ex tropical cyclone stuff. Towns up north Qld have had 300 mm of the wet stuff in 24 hours.

It was a one day wonder. Have been melting ever since! We were supposed to have rain and 20-25 all week. Instead it's been dry as a desert and minimum of 30 :sweating: (humidity has been sitting at around 70% at it's lowest though so it feels way hotter than it is!)

Last night around midnight the snow was falling rather fast and the depth was around 8.5 inches.
Got up this morning and at 8 am the snow had nearly gone.
Nearly had a tsunami with all the melting snow......
Now why didn't I get out and make a dozen or so snowmen snowpeople (being pc) as advised by the powers to be to prevent flooding as the snow melts.....

It was a day it was 47.6 in the shade,he pulled the thermometer out of the weather station in the shade,sat it in the sun for a few minutes,it was well over 55c,subsiquently I didn't go back out that afternoon.

They had several severe storms during the 2 years they lived in Perth WA (one of which wrote off their car)
They have had several more since living on the Sunshine Coast (the last 12 months or so) including the current almost Cyclone conditions...
We had a superb day today low to mid 20's .. we had only around 30 mls of rain in November and the same for December and this month we have had even less so far probably 12 mls or so ..

First time ever an ex tropical cyclone has tracked all the way from North Queensland to the NSW South Coast. It moved out to sea yesterday (Tuesday morning) after hitting us with 170 ml of rain in 24 hours and some strong winds. :Shocked:

Hot here today. We've had nothing below 30 for days. Today is meant to get to 27 but it's 9:13am and we've already hit 25.6 so I think we've been lied to as usual.
Supposed to cool off tomorrow but then again, we were supposed to get thunderstorms yesterday and we didn't see any of those so I won't hold my breath.
Might have to hit the beach today if it's horrible!

Today we accompanied my brother-in-law and his tribe on a drive. At a shop in a quiet town serving venison burgers, the kids (6,4 and 3) were their usual handful.

I'm not a huge fan of car air con. However while I didn't use it too much in the Ford, for some reason I find the cabin quite stuffy in my i30 if I only have the air on. Not sure if it will be different come winter but for now it is :(

Yes the free flow of air in most of the new little cars is fairly poor these days,in the morning's I just have the fan on low,but on the way home in the arvo I have the A/C on,,it will be on this arvo it has hit 40.5c B-)

Tassie is gorgeous! It's funny, sometimes when you live somewhere you forget how lovely it is. Living in Canberra for 10 years I missed the mountains and rainforest here the most (everyone used to think I'd miss the beach and I did, but not as much as the rainforest).

Me too. When I was a kid it was this huge thundering amazing thing. Now it's barely a trickle, even after a lot of rain :( Sadly it's a half an hour drive, $10 entry fee and a 45 minute SUPER steep walk to get to it so it doesn't happen very often.

I have a couple of roads engineers on my division committee. I must ask them what advances in materials and techniques there might be to withstand the harsh rugged man-building Aussie climate. :cool:

If you actually read it she wants a fair Australia for anyone who lives here and is prepared to make it their home.

What you say is correct Dave, but the clincher is the first part of your last line. Far to stupid for her own good and far too easily led, which is what happened.

Her difficulty is her message, it is controversially different, although there are many that would agree with her, she is clumsy at elucidating her platform and was politically assassinated by a collective joint effort by all other parties, who felt threatened that she just might get a decent following.
Add to that, her private life and well, she was doomed.
Personally, I don't think she's racist and it should NOT be a bad thing to section out a group in society by they're race, culture or religion in order to discuss problems that are evident in society and need addressing by the government and people of this country.
All she is advocating is One Nation of people, here legitimately, working together and enjoying the SAME opportunities and equally sharing the same burdens, I can't see anything wrong with that.
The real insult to Australians is that we live with racism now and it is kept hush-hush or hidden under the name of special assistance packages or laws. Ever noticed an ad in the paper with the line "People with aboriginal or torres strait islander descent are encouraged to apply." this actually means if you're not aboriginal or torres strait, don't bother.
Why is it in all our National parks in Oz, guides, boat operators etc, are all aboriginal. From Adelaide to Darwin, I never came across 1 non-aboriginal in my last trip. Coincidence, I don't think so.
Apologies to anyone who is offended by this post but that's just how I see it.

My daughter applied for a job for which she has a lot of practical experience but the state govt department wouldn't accept the application because they said she MUST have a degree.
In the position description when it was advertised, it actually stated that no degree was required if the applicant was from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island background.
That is discrimination and everyone allows it to happen because they are too afraid to say anything.
It is wrong.
Everyone should be equal and should treated equally.

Agreed Dave, positive discrimination is still discrimination. It leads to tokenism. This also happens in politics as well (Nova Perris Kneebone). I have discussed female politicians at work and somebody told me they would vote for somebody "because she was a woman", I explained to them that this was sexism. They told me it wasn't because she was a woman as well. I then tried to tell them that if I voted for a male politician, because he was male, that was sexism too. This person then agreed with my point of view.

I wasn't saying she shouldn't be able to sit in parliament. I agree anyone should be able to do so. However, my point was that, in the interest of effective representation, she's not the best person for the job, because.......... a/ her thought processes are suspect (witness some of her "off the cuff" comments) and .......... b/ Sh'e too easily led by others who she puts her faith in without any apparent logic.
If a majority of voters disagree with me then she'll be back in parliament at the next election.
FWIW, I agree with you and Dave on her views.

Sorry, missed this! Oh well, a few days late won't hurt. Currently 21.6. Going down to a rather chilly 18 C tonight then attempting to kill me at 30 tomorrow (but it will get hotter than that, it almost always does, plus there's going to be minimum 60% humidity :sweating:).
Supposedly a 70% chance of rain tomorrow, but then today had a 40% chance and we've seen nothing (also the tv weather report said no rain and hot and sunny tomorrow so who knows!).

I love it when summer finally goes away. As it has now.
Autumn in our neck of the woods sees overnight temps of maybe 14° to 18° and daytime highs in the mid 20's. Occasionaly gets a bit higher but it's manageable without the humidity.
Clear nights, great views of the stars, gentle offshore breezes and nice ground swell from the low down in the Tasman Sea.
Come winter we'll see single figures overnight but none of that Zero stuff. :cool:

First frost of the winter here in Southern Tasmania, despite what some people think, it is very rare for it to get below 0 deg C here in Cygnet (or Hobart) due to the proximity to the ocean (water is a great modulator of temperature). It was -0.7 deg when I went outside and took these photos. There were clear skies and no wind in Tassie last night, hence the temperature drop. We were able to see some of the "Dark MOFO" lights from our house, 50 km away.

BTW, on Sunday morning and this morning there was a "tad" of black ice on the road. Luckily for me I wasn't going that fast and the ESP kicked in. My eyes did open a "tad" as the Ranger stepped sideways a few times.

Bucketloads of torque (470Nm), reasonable power (147kw). Our old Commodore had less torque, but more power. I think it was more a case of no weight in the rear (and it was icy).

I hit black ice once in a Mazda 808 with cross ply tryes (Did a completed 360 without hitting anything :sweating: :faint: ) ..

It would nearly twice the average for this time of the year (at a guess) and we've had at least 4 instances of > 1 inch in 24 hours which is also not that common in this area :Pout:

Yes Phil, I didn't bother to upgrade the rain catcher part as recommended by Bob but the figures it throws seem to collate roughly with what we get.

Received Water bill yesterday. We have 4 / 5 people in our house usually. During Winter, been using our little 9k litre rain tank to supply water for the house.
According to invoice, we used avg of 150 lts / day which is equivalent to 1 person home, with no garden. Real happy about that. However, the fixed supply charge, represented 66.93% of the total bill. Bloody desalinator. :fum:

Down here at Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast, due to the East Coast Low we got a real hammering last 24 hours, 70 ML of rain, 100 km/ winds, got a bit of water in through the front windows which face the sea. The seas were up to 8 metres of the coast. Too bad for fishing and golfing. :(
Worse still the paper truck with my morning delivery Daily Telegraph from Sydney could not get through due to flooding on Princes Hwy at Albion Park, but at least the Dan Murphy's truck with my wine supply got through. :P Another 4 dozen Hardys, Wolf Blass and Lindemans for my stocks. Lubberly Jubberly. :P
I buy on line from Dan Murphys, no store down here. :'(

Les I got that same storm at Narooma, then at about 7am got a blackout. & as i'm going up to Sydney for a few days & was still no power latter in afternoon, I desided to go up Milton, to Cousins farm for the night. then the fuel light comes on & local servo has no power to run the pumps :rofl: so drove up to Bodella to put some fuel in ( just enough to get to Sydney ) the weather still bad here at Milton too. but was a long time between drinks had forgot last time it rained.

i think the humidity plays a part too, like it rain's a lot in GB so i'd expect humidity would be high?
when i was out in central west was 45c but low humidity as not much rain so was dry heat, all you had to do to cool off was get under a tree. but in Sydney 45c & high humidity felt far worse, get under a tree and you still felt hot as about 80 yo 90% humidity. air quality much better with low humidity. that's why i like it down here 35c is about as hot as it gets down here & was 30c yesterday but always got a sea breeze.

Was no rain here for over a month then we got some good fall's now it's green, Sydney needs Rain badly too by look of it when i was up there other day
yesturday was 30c here & felt hot to me, today was about 26c but strong winds but the wind was warm thats why though it was a westerly also seemed to me coming from that direction
it was great out on the pushy with a tail wind, but in opposite direction was a lot of work ( puff puff )

yesturday everyone was telling me how hot they were, but i was riding did not really notice, they said it was windy but i'm always in the wind on a MC, got to friends farm at Orange & i mentioned to his wife it did not feel that hot people on coast & in sydney were telling me it was real hot, my friends wife said it was 29c there. was cooler there today or this morning, but back home on south coast seemed perfect.

28C right now at Batemans Bay, but will reach 34. Hope the weather stays good, taking the i30 (and the boss) down to Eden late next week for 4 nights. Bit of whale watching , fishing, golfing, drinking, eating. Eden is down near the Victoria border, about 3 hours drive from here, depending on how you stoke up the i30. A nice drive down the Princes Hwy, for those of you who have not been down this way, no motorways, nice little villages. :cool:

Today it's 0°C and we got the first snow of the winter, which is mostly melted to big amounts of slush. When coming home from work, I saw two cars wrecked into the ditch, most likely because of too much speed and hydroplaning in slushy road. I put my winter tyres on at Tuesday, but even with them I had to drive carefully to get safely home. Weather forecast show -4 for tomorrow, so any remaining slush will freeze to slippery and crunchy ice. I hope they will plow most of it away tonight. :snow:

weather has been all over the place here today but its sunny just windy, i road my pushy up the coast to visit a friend and while there it started to rain then it stopped as quick as it started & no more rain since temps as high as 28c but with the wind blowing off ocean it don't feel that warm.

Left my daughter in Darwin for her new job which she started last Monday. Now Darwin's in line for it's first cyclone of the season.
Fortunately it looks like it'll make landfall a bit south of the city, but she has had planty of rain this afternoon.

Dazz a guy i knew road a motor bike in a guided tour from Alaska to the bottom of south America, started in Summer in northern hem , finished in summer in southern hem.
yes what to his mentioned about rubber going stiff in freezing conditions, i'd never thought of that, & that would effect tyre traction too . i'm sure the water would be hard on top too :rofl:

It was quite common in the days of cross ply tyres for drivers to experience a thumping for the first few miles on a cold morning - even around 10° C as the casing would "set" overnight and take a while to warm up.
Less common with radial tyres due to the flex pattern of the radial construction.
In recent years the issue has reared its head again with the proliferation of cheap imported cross ply truck tyres from China and India, so I suspect the quality of the rubber may also gave something to do with it.
However, if you think about it, watch racing cars weaving from side to side on "warm-up" laps to get their tyres up to a good operating temperature. And on cold days, they have more problems with grip.

Yes, it was vibrating significantly more than usual, especially at idle. Anyone who has been in 1980s VW Golf diesel, knows exactly what I mean.. :lol:
There are many other things which could cause problems in severe cold. The engine block pre-heater is highly recommended. Without using it the engine may be hard to start, or it may not start at all. When starting an unheated engine at -25 or colder, the engine oil is quite thick stuff and makes the oil pressure rise very high, which may pop out the crankshaft end seal or even break the oil filter, causing massive oil leak. Of course in most times it doesn't happen, but still the garages have busy times when the weather is very cold.
Also the crankcase breather pipe may freeze if you are driving lots of short trips in moist conditions. Clogged pipe raises the crankcase pressure dramatically, and may also pop out either the crankshaft end seal or the oil disptick, again causing engine oil to burst out. Especially French cars have been prone to breather freezing because of poorly designed pipe (bends where condensating water stays and can't drip out).

I had a Morris Marina many moons ago and the pipe was at the front of the engine.
I had to take it off every other month to clean out of the solidified oil.

well roc sunny again, yesterday i did not take kayak out as tide was going out, did not fancy paddling against it as i'm still learning to paddle ( easy but need to learn technique )
so as i have a new fridge being delivered today, i road my motor bike up to Batemans Bay to check on expected delivery time. was a great ride up bike ran sweet & more exciting to ride on MC than drive the i30 ( not much difference in economy ) it was beautiful weather to ride in too.

Although I have enough air miles to do the trip for both of us business class twice over - my wife is dead set on not never ever flying long haul again. I must admit - any flight over 4 hours I find uncomfortable. So the answer is no - as much as I would like to.

That may be, however rally cars have very different tyres. There's no way you could keep up in their speed with any road legal tyres. :wink:

Asterix anywhere between 18c to 37c is fine by me but I do have limits,once it gets over forty and stays there.it gets a bit hard to handle,I can't breath properly when it gets to hot and dry :fum:

Coming home from the city 30 mins ago, I30 displayed 47 Deg C. :whistler:
Don't know the actual temp inside, but on auto the fan slowed to about 50% set at 22 Deg, we were both quite comfortable.
For the 1st time I saw the temp go to 75% climbing the hill, then straight back to normal 45%, so the needle is not stuck @ 45%. :D

Balmy 25C here today, nice. I too was up in Sydney for a few days over Chrissie, up Lane Cove way, where my son lives. Rained a fair bit, but the i30 went real well, picked my travel times, up via Princes Hwy, Eastern Distributor, Harbour Tunnel, back via M2, M7, Hume Freeway, through Goulburn and Kings Hwy, cruise control most of the way. 650 km round trip, blew the cobwebs out of the pipes.

About the same time from Riverview (Lane Cove) to Batemans Bay, using Epping Rd, M2, M7, Hume Fwy, Kings Hwy, rather than Princes Hwy. Took us 4 hours, 50 km longer, but much less traffic and faster travelling, used more juice of course as sitting on 100-110 km/h just about all the way. Once I hit Epping Rd onto M2 did not stop for traffic or any lights, just a couple of 10 minute pit and water stops at Goulburn and Braidwood. :-[

but traveling from Riverview, epping road M2 M7 would be by far the best. i was near Becroft Epping Carlingford boarders. i left @ 4.30am , i always stop at Milton. don't always watch the time, but always enjoy the coffee at Milton & visiting Cousins.

We had a real hot arvo yesterday, reached 35C, had to whack on the house a/c on and partake of a few icy Mercury Ciders, to keep my fluid level up, :lol:but then at tea time ye olde southerly buster blew up the coast, dropped it to 25C. Real nice today 25C, lubberly jubberly. :D

Here are a few of a large brach from a gum tree that fell over our back fence in a wild storm two daya ago along with the busted clothes line, which was the only damage. I had only fininshed getting clothes off the line about two minutes earler as the storm was approaching very rapidly.
Fortunately,the branch lodged in the fork of another tree just outside our fence preventing it from smashing the fence.

At midnight last night it was 34.
The overnight minimum was 29.7 at about 3.00 am.
No wonder the fires have taken hold.
As I type it is just constant helitacs flying back & forth overhead.
One person has died whilst protecting his house (he was on the roof and had a heart attack), believed several homes lost and the latest advice is that it is still burning out of control. :(

Arson Squad have been out there and preliminary indications are it was caused by a power pole.
Unfortunately, the pole was located inside someone's property boundary and we have this stupid law over here that makes the property owner responsible for maintaining the pole if it is inside the boundary, so I wouldn't like to be in their shoes.

We've had this nonsense before with a property owner in Toodyay.
Western Power say it isn't their responsibility to maintain poles on private property so that any catastrophe caused like this falls back on some poor individual instead of them.
Lunacy.

But the property owner doesn't own the pole. If a fire starts from arcing between the wires, the owner can not maintain the safety of that function, it needs specialized equipment and training.
That law is absolute c***, needs repealing and replacing with something sane.

Just come back from the local PO,had to see what it got to today(as I did not believe my eyes when I read our weather station) It was stinking hot yesterday, 44.2c it got to,so I didn't bath the dog which is having pups shortly,thought I would do it today,as it was supposed to be cooler,well when I checked our weather station,it told me it had gotten to 45.4c had to go up the PO and check,their reported temp was 45.2C so my weather station is not that far out,BUT THIS BLOODY WEATHER IS.

Up other 30 when we were in Launceston earlier in the day (which is warm for Tassie.)

You don't have to be too far removed from a weather station to get different readings. IIRC Devonport airport is coastal, so will have the coastal influence. You only have to be a couple of km inland from that to have a totally different temperature/humidity/wind.

Agree totally, Dazz. I only mentioned it to people to get them to think about the location where the weather station is. As you pointed out, the Devonport Airport is a long way from Devonport proper, therefore will have different weather. Some weather websites will mention the location (i.e. there are weather stations in Hobart and Hobart Airport).

AFAIC, the weather is what it is, where you are at the time. Reporting from a fixed location can only be an indication at the best of times. I find it interesting that weather stations using wet & dry thermometers are located in white vented enclosures in full sun.

As convenient as they are, I prefer the old type thermometers to these digital things. How do you know if they're accurate. The same with sphygmometers too.

Yeah Phil, I get your drift but the difference between low 20's and high 20's is huge.. We get closer to Sheffield temps and rainfall than the airport readings even though Sheffield is much further away! :confused:

It was all going along nicely, until Phil started calling people nasty names. :P
The digital thermometers are calibrated, like the old types are. The reason why the weather station are in a white, ventilated box in direct sunlight is so that they are all reading the same information. The dry temperature that reads in that box is the "shade" temperature. There are no external influences. There will also be rules about how far from obstructions, etc the box is to be.

The thing I hate about hot weather is the continuous disagreement about air conditioning. In normal weather the house is ventilated and can often get to 25 inside, T shirt temps and quite comfy for all.
But if it's 37 Deg+ the female mindset is AC on and we must go to 18 Deg C because it HOT outside. It has to stay on after dark too. :faint:
We have a week of argument hot weather coming. :fum:
Still, we have comprimised, I set the control to 24 Deg. :lol:

Generally speaking I find that the variation between my place and the local (?) airport _Maroochdore is abou50klms north :undecided: - is consistent, so that's all I use the stated temps for.
And my car's outside temp tends to read about one or two degrees hotter than reality, but again it's consistent.

It is a rare day if I have to turn on my house A/C.

that is Hot Bob! was hot here yesterday too & humid, but just need to open windows to catch a cool sea breeze. the good thing for me in or on south coast NSW is water temp always cool, air temp can be hot & humid , but wind or breeze blowing over cool water is or works like air cond. 8.30am 23c 88% humidity was a fog this morning. they blame this hot weather, thats moving from WA. so thanks to the WA crew.

Well, I'm sitting under the aircon at 9:06 and the outside thermometer is showing 36.6 C. I run a private weather station (Karoonda Weather) with its own website. Where I live is always 2-3 degrees hotter than Adelaide. As I said in an earlier post, our forecast is for 47 C today.

A reasonable 28C with a 10km/h Nor Easter here in Batemans Bay, NSW South Coast. But this arvo and evening if the NE breeze drops, the hot air will come over the mountain it will get up to 35 for sure. Over the mountain in Canberra it is 40 today. :Shocked:
In the 9 years I have lived here, hottest day was New Year Day, 2007, it hit 45. :Shocked: :faint:
We live 1 km from the beach, was down there at 0800 for my 1 hour stroll, it was quite crowded, at least 50 people, normally, 2 men and a dog. :cool:

A reasonable 28C with a 10km/h Nor Easter here in Batemans Bay, NSW South Coast. But this arvo and evening if the NE breeze drops, the hot air will come over the mountain it will get up to 35 for sure. Over the mountain in Canberra it is 40 today. :Shocked:
In the 9 years I have lived here, hottest day was New Year Day, 2007, it hit 45. :Shocked: :faint:

My daughter and I drove back from Brisbane that day in her car. Got stopped by fires on the F2 behind Gosford nad drove back to Cessnock and Singleton then down the Putty Road to Windsor and home. Looooong hot day.

Exactly!! Tasmanians pay more for Tasmanian Hydro Power than people on the mainland pay for Tasmanian Hydro Power. Even though the Hydro Power is a "green" energy, we still pay Carbon Tax on our Hydro Power. :head_butt:

Well yesterday's temps never got as high in SA as predicted. My station recorded a high of 45.6C (the forecast was for 47C. Today has started off very warn. It's now 39.4C at 9:15am and rising rapidly. Yesterday my station recorded its highest minimum of 24.4C. Cool change is to arrive later today, but the winds have picked up making it a bad day for fires.

There's nothing interesting on the telly until 9.0pm so we tried holding a conversation. However, our words froze in mid-air and we had to put them on a radiator to thaw them to hear what we were talking about.
I am dreading tomorrow morning - she will send me up on the roof again to snap the smoke off the chimney.

We woke up this morning to a cloudless sky but bitterly cold. My wife likes a bedroom window open all the time - hence the central heating stands no chance.
What woke me so early was the noise of my false teeth chattering in the glass.
I went downstairs and opened the fridge door to let some heat into the kitchen.
I hope I soon catch a fever - at least I will get warm.

The weather has cooled from the 40's and occasionally a shower or two to top up our consumption. It's about the only thing left that's free,,,,,,,,, for now.

We had three day's & three night's straight rain. ( i hated it ) but not raining today & we have all that water so that's a plus. but still i hate rain.
the good point was the wet lands are now full of water, they were starting to dry up & the beautiful Black Swans have moved over to the salt water inlet . so will be good to see them back on wet lands.

Summer is here! :cool: :happydance: Few months ago I posted a pic showing -28 °C, now it's plus 28 instead of minus. Usually we have something like 15 °C at this time of the year, but I guess the climate change has made the average weather almost a rarity. While this week has been mostly sunny and unusually warm, last week was rainy and barely over 5 °C.

has been 25c for past two weeks here & sunny, i road my MC up Sydney stayed 4 day's temp was same there perfect weather for riding, won't last i don't think be never seen real low temps down here last winter think 10c is a cold morning here, but only have to drive about 90k away to see snow, funny how that works?

To all of our Northern Hemisphere members, please feel for us poor souls in the middle of a Southern Hemisphere winter. Why just today I had to put up with a minimum of 12 degrees C, and a maximum of 28 degrees C. It's so cold I might have to close the door, either that or put something on other than a t-shirt and shorts!!
